backup of Redhat LHBR repo (Bare metal)
Hello, I would like ask you if you have experience with backups of LHBR repository (Bare metal Redhat 8.6) in V12.1?
In our infra we had V11a and LHBR repository in VBR was added by single sign on user veeam_user1
This LHBR was backed up by veeam_user2 (was added with classic credentials) by agent.
Now, after upgrade to V12.1, we had to remove Veeam agent there, because it was causing editing issue with repository (Enabling restricted mode for Installer Error:VAL component are installed on the target machine).
After uninstall of agent on LHBR server was possible to finish editing repository.
I assume, that in V12.1 changed behavior and because of security, cant be agent installed on LHBR repo?
My question is , if there is known any other way how to back up Bare metal server, which acts as LHBR repo (I mean only rootVG) from Veeam perspective
Case already opened 03072383

Re: backup of Redhat LHBR repo (Bare metal)
Hello, your observations are correct, VAL cannot be used to backup LHBR (enabling this would expand the attack surface dramatically). Backups should be copied with Backup Copy jobs, as for the server itself you just redeploy it basically... there's nothing valuable to back up there anyway (except actual backups). Thanks

Re: backup of Redhat LHBR repo (Bare metal)
Hello Gostev, thank you for your quick reply.
In our case it is LHBR repo located in CRaaS site and there are a lot network configurations. So in case of redeploy, it will be not so basic. So that's the reason, why I am asking if possible somehow to back up OS of this LHBR via current VBR.
Also as an info for account team, is there officially mentioned that such servers is not necessary/not possible to back it up please?

Then may be just make a copy of those network configuration files so you don't have to enter everything manually again?
You can simply refer them to my statement above, it does not get more official since I'm responsible for all products at Veeam.
