[VAOS] Exclude Directories from Solaris Agent Backup

Post by uk1984 »

We have 2 Solaris physical servers which we want to backup with Veeam.
Both have a global zone and 2 local zones.
And we would like to exlude certain directories.

The options in VAOS are "entire machine" where no exlusions whatsoever are possible.
-> So no option.

And then the only other option is "custom scope" which essentially is just a "whitelist"
of directories which should be included in the backup with the only option to exclude
certain files. But when working with a whitelist we would constantly have to adjust
the scope when new directories (at least on the root level) are added.
-> So also no real option.

Has it some deeper technical background why something so "relevant" is missing in the VAOS?

Additional question:
Is the VAOS in the custom scope mode capable of backup "everything" if I put /* as folder?

Also regarding licensing.
Does it make difference between installing 1x VAOS on the global zone and installing 3x VAOS
(1x on global and 2x on local)?

Hello,
yes, using "/" and excluding is the easiest way.

And every agent counts.

Best regards,

Problem is excluding supports only files and we need directories! :-/

Hello Udo,

In the Filters wizard you can also add folders into exclusion, just add full path:

Hello Udo,
Also regarding licensing.
Does it make difference between installing 1x VAOS on the global zone and installing 3x VAOS
(1x on global and 2x on local)?
Each installation of VAOS requires a separate license, so in the case of installing 3x VAOS, you would need three licenses in total.
