Failed to create volume snapshot.

Post by Django »

Hey Guys,

I just installed the veeam Endpoint Beta 2 on my CentOS 7 machine.

Unfortunately it can't backup because:

1. Failed to create volume snapshot.
2. Not matching IOCTL for that system.
3. Failed to execute IOCTL_Tracking_COLLECT
4.Failed to perform backup

I really dont know if the other ones are caused by the first one.
I'd really like to hear your opinion about this.

Kind Regards,

Hi,

Please share an archived /var/log/veeam directory as well as lsblk -af and dmesg -T outputs. Also please specify the backup job settings.

Thank you

Hello,

sorry for that late response.

So my issue was, that my veeam cl7 wasn's installed correctly. Means, as I was doing the

rpm -ivh veeam-1.0.0.678-1.el7.x86_64.rpm

command, I received an error message which messed up all my configuration with from the snapshot.

So I reinstalled my CentOS7 and went through the options again and that however fixed it. :)

Thanks,

May I ask you something about the first time you've tried BETA2 - did you install BETA2 on the same machine where BETA1 had been installed or that was a fresh installation?

It was a fresh installation of CentOS 7 and Beta 2. I didnt use Beta 1 before, but i think it was my mistake because i used a older version of dkms which wasnt full compatible.

[MERGED] Inappropriate ioctl for device

Post by hjgode »

Hello

I installed veeam agent 1.0.0.944 on my debian 8 system to create image and file backups to a NFS drive.

Unfortunately the backups all fail immediately with alway the same error:

Code: Select all

[08.01.2017 20:07:55] <4076862272> lpbcore| ERR |Backup job has failed.
[08.01.2017 20:07:55] <4076862272> lpbcore| >> |Inappropriate ioctl for device
[08.01.2017 20:07:55] <4076862272> lpbcore| >> |Failed to execute IOCTL_TRACKING_COLLECT.
[08.01.2017 20:07:55] <4076862272> lpbcore| >> |--tr:Unable to create snapshot.
[08.01.2017 20:07:55] <4076862272> lpbcore| >> |--tr:Failed to execute method [0] for class [N10lpbcorelib11int
eraction9proxystub21CResourcesServiceStubE].
[08.01.2017 20:07:55] <4076862272> lpbcore| >> |--tr:Failed to create volume snapshot.
[08.01.2017 20:07:55] <4076862272> lpbcore| >> |Backup job has failed.
[08.01.2017 20:07:55] <4076862272> lpbcore| >> |An exception was thrown from thread [4137679680].
The veeam installation did not sow any error and I was unable to find any help for this IOCTL error.

Can you help?

The ticket system is broken....

Hi,

Is that a fresh installation or you've installed .944 atop of the previous build?

Also please provide more info about the system (lsblk -af), job settings, and export logs (use 'M' key). Also what exactly do you mean by saying "The ticket system is broken..."?

Thanks

sdd
sde
sdf

Got the package, thanks. I still do not understand what's the reason why you could not open a case with support team?

Thank you

When I enter the support case and switches to "new engine" and everything I entered is gone and I can not enter a new case with the new engine.

Do not tell me to try a different browser etc, Web sites should be able to detect and use the correct code.

As far as I know you've managed to open a case. Could you please tell what was the browser that did not work well so I can pass a message to our web team?

Thanks
