Power management inhibition whilst backing up.

I guess your machine got automatically shutdown in the middle of a backup, and you don't that to happen again, is that correct?

I have to manually toggle power management off when running from terminal under Linux.

OK, but would you kindly provide some clarification on what happens if you don't disable it? Since there are many userspace tools that offer control over power management, it'd great if you described how exactly you disable power management.

Well actually it's toggled from system tray, but using Mint, so not officially supported.
