file level restore with the Solaris agent ??

Post by dmosley »

I just discovered the beta version of the Veeam Solaris agent yesterday. My excitement knew no bounds .....

It appears that it will be able to do a bare-metal restore of a full system image. This is vital. But what would be needed 90+% of the time is a restore of individual files from a backup image. I see no mention of that in the 86 page document, no mention of that within the agent gui.

Is there some process to restore files instead of the full system ??

Hi,

It will also be possible to perform file-level recovery. I agree that the User Guide has seen better days, but we are actively working to improve it :)

Thank you for your feedback!

Thanks for your response.
I've sent the next questions to Veeam Sales and the regional SE person but have no response ...
What is the timeline for this Solaris agent ? How soon will it become a real product ? The beta says it stops working Sept. 1
Will it be integrating with the standard Veeam management console and existing datastores ?
Any estimate on the pricing structure ?

thanks.

We plan to release in Q3 but no date is defined yet. V1 will not integrate with VBR (the betais feature complete) however we are researching this.

Pricing will become more clear towards GA so check back with your local sales.
