IsActive Error

Need help with cause and fix for the following error when trying to access recent backup(s).

Value [IsActive] was not found

Single machine running CentOS 7, stand alone mode, backups to NFS share on same network, previous history of everything working.

Turns out a newly flashed usb stick with fresh recovery media did the trick - trying it earlier would have saved a lot of grief - hope that may help if someone else sees the same error.
