Linux-VM hangs if Backup to SMB and SMB-storage is full

Post by vchrizz »

Hi,

Reading https://forums.veeam.com/veeam-agent-fo ... 39579.html
If you use Veeam Agent for Linux with a paid license installed, you can submit a support case to the Veeam Support Team at http://www.veeam.com/support.html. If you use Veeam Agent for Linux FREE, please submit issues by creating a separate topic for each issue. Please do not post log snippets, instead include the link to full logs package.
We are using "Veeam Agent for Linux FREE" and noticed a Problem when "Backup to SMB Share" is configured and the SMB share is full and has not enough space free for the snapshot.
The Veeam Agent corrupts Filesystem (when doing Snapshot?) and kernel module seems to hang which leads to a fsck on reboot because the VM is not responding at all.

Here are the logs: https://nofile.io/f/MXAmG50WVr6/veeam_l ... 449.tar.gz

Code: Select all

[73688.724650] veeamsnap:_tracker_release_snapshot Active snap number=3
[73688.724660] veeamsnap:defer_io_destroy for device 202:1
[73829.340107] INFO: task jbd2/xvda1-8:138 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
[73829.340134] Tainted: G O 4.9.0-6-amd64 #1 Debian 4.9.82-1+deb9u3
Hope it helps and can be fixed in next version of Veeam Agent.

Best regards,
chris

Hi,

Just FYI - snapshot can be placed only on block devices. In your case SMB share does not have enough space for backup.

Did you have any successful backup sessions? Would VM hang if you tried to copy large file to SMB that does not have enough space? Also please tell us what hypervisor do you use?

Thank you
