Speed UP Veeam Agent For Linux
Hi All,
I've to deploy veeam agent for linux on our customer (physical server) and backup using entire computer mode.
the size of entire physical server is arround 6TB. I've concern about the network speed on customer side. the network speed just 1GB/s.
i had tested to backup physical server with size arround 900GB and it takes about 5 hours.
So my customer asked is it posible if they add a new NIC (10GB/s) on the physical servers and using for backup only?
i'm lilbit confused here, cause from what i know there is no settings on veeam agent side to using 1GB/s or 10GB/s NIC right? CMIIW
and there is no settings in veeam agent to use proxy like backing up VM on VMware right.
Really Thanks,
Ozil

Hello,
Can you layout your backup structure in more details?
- Do you use VBR or directly backing up from Agent?
- What is your backup repository?
By "the size of entire physical server", do you mean total size of storage/disks or only data itself?
Rovshan.

Hi Rovshan,
here's the details:
1. We're using VBR V12.
2. Backup repository type is HLR
3. Total of used size is 900GB (only data)
I just want to make sure there is no settings on Veeam Agent side to use 1 GB/s NIC or 10GB/s NIC during the backup.
Thanks,

Hello,
By specifying preferred network in the VBR settings, you can achieve this goal, as preferred network rule applies to Backup repository and Veeam Agent too.
Please take a look at this User Guide. https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

Hi,
What are you bottleneck stats? Source/Target/Network/Storage? Please post them.
It looks like your average transfer rate is ~400 MBit/s (50 MB/s), which is too slow even for 1 Gbit channel (provided that the channel is not occupied with something else).
Thanks!
