Support for RHEL 9

Post by sandsturm »

Hi

When will the Veeam agent Linux supporting RHEL 9 be released? RHEL 9 GA release was on 22.Sept 2022, if I add the standard 90 days to this date, it will be before End of this year. Am I right, that the Veeam agent for Linux, which supports RHEL 9, will not be released together with V12 but rather before? As every time with new RHEL releases, we are fighting with these 90 days and if we will see more then 90 days after RHEL GA release this time, then we have a serious problem.

I hope, someone can give me an approximate ETA for this veeam agent release.

thx a lot,
sandsturm

Hi Sandsturm

RHEL 9 is supported. Agent 5.0.2.4619 is required. This build is a private build.
To get it, please open a support case.

Veeam Agent for Linux v6 will be the first public release and we expect it in Q1/2023.

Thanks

Hi

our Linux department is currently rolling out RHEL 9.1 and there seems to be a problem with the veeam agent and RHEL 9.1, we have the following problems:

1. veeam snap kills the reboot after update to 9.1
needs to be turned off manualy and turned on for flawless operation

2. Failed to load module [veeamsnap] with parameters [zerosnapdata=1 debuglogging=0 snapstore_block_size_pow=14 change_tracking_block_size_pow=18 logdir=/var/log/veeam fixflags=0 logmaxsize=15728640].

RHEL 9.0 works, but 9.1 does not work at the moment....

thx

Hi sandsturm

Yes, RHEL 9.1 isn't officially supported yet.
But I see that our teams are already working on official support.

Thanks

Hello,
you can already open a support case to get the RHEL 9.1 hotfix. The KB article will be updated shortly.

Best regards,
Hannes
