VAL behaviour when Device backup is chosen

Post by perdrix »

Rather than repeat everything in the community thread, please could someone take a look at:
https://community.veeam.com/discussion- ... #post92939
and advise if the observed behaviour is truly intended (surely not), or ...

Instead of backing up the volume, it’s taking multiple copies of the data, one for each snapshot.

I think you need to allow specification of which btrfs snapshots/subvolumes not to backup as otherwise you copy the volume multiple times which is really not sensible.

I managed to find a way to just backup the current data by configuring a backup job using mountpoints:

but I really don’t think that I should need to do that.

Hi perdrix,

Can you tell if you selected a subvolume or a storage pool at this step of the job wizard?

See the highlighted note, if the StoragePool is selected, its subvolumes will be walked and protected also. You should be able to select just the volume you want protected. Alternatively, your solution with mount points works also.
