Veeam B&R 12 Linux Agent fails (maybe bc 64gb .img file)

Post by backupUserrun »

hi,
Running veeam agent 6.20 on a Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS physical machine, destination is a local Veeam B&R 12.2.0.334 server (win server 2022, the backup repo is on a local direct attached NTFS disk with several TB of free space, not smb nor nfs, just a local windows disk).

the agent was backing up just fine, then noticed it started failing with this error:

Code: Select all

Starting incremental backup to [172.17.X.X] Default Backup Repository
File system indexing is enabled
[error] Backing up files /
[error] Failed to perform backup
[error] Invalid bitmap access. Sub-bitmap number: [2035]. Count of bitmaps: [2035]
[error] Sync operation failed
[error] Agent failed to process method {FileBackup.SyncDirs}
[error] Processing finished with errors at 2024-10-05 20:43:06 UTC
failing started exactly after this directory was created (and if i exclude this path, in the file-level backup settings, then the backup succeeds):
(also note, i did try enabling "Backup Directly from live file system" and it fails with or without this option enabled)

Code: Select all

lss /win10VNCdocker/
total 13G
drwxr-xr-x 25 root root 4.0K Oct 6 12:36 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 64G Oct 1 11:43 data.img
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 528K Sep 25 17:26 windows.vars
drwxrwxrwx 2 root root 4.0K Sep 25 15:54 .
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Sep 25 15:54 windows.boot
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3.5M Sep 25 15:40 windows.rom
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 18 Sep 25 15:40 windows.mac
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 13 Sep 25 15:40 windows.base
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5 Sep 25 15:40 windows.ver

(below are file sizes in MB):
0 windows.boot
1 windows.base
1 windows.mac
1 windows.vars
1 windows.ver
4 windows.rom
12510 data.img
12514 total
it seems we cant post/paste in images , so here is the config on the agent side (is a file level backup , not a volume level as we need to exclude some paths) :

Code: Select all

Repository name: [172.17.X.X] Default Backup Repository
 Options:

    Block size: 1024 KB
Index all files and directories selected for backup
    Retries are allowed
    Retry count: 3
    Retry timeout: 10 minute(s)

   Objects for backup:
    Include directory: /
    Exclude directory: /Xstorage/
 Schedule:

 Health check:
Every first Mon of every month
    disabled
 Repository immutability:

I encounter the same with a single client. File size is ~1.6 Mb. Fully readable without errors. Removing the file allows the backup to complete properly. Copying it back causes the backup to fail.

Hi

Unfortunately that's not something that could be troubleshooted via forums. Please open a support case and post your case number for reference.

Thanks!
