Running cost of Veeam Backup for AWS

Our prospect customer want to backup Amazon EC2 to Amazon S3 by using Veeam Backup for AWS.
They backup about 30 EC2 Instance.

They have question.

#Q1
If we back up 30 EC2 instances, is the default "t2.medium" instance type sufficient for Veeam Backup for AWS ?
(Please let me know if you have any sizing materials on how to select an instance type.)

#Q2
How much EBS Volume will be attached in Veeam Backup for AWS ?
(Customers want to estimate the running cost of Veeam Backup for AWS.)

The recommended EC2 instance type is t2.medium.

The software scales with the number of workers. 30 VMs is so small, that I would not think about sizing.

t2.medium will indeed be enough. For processing workloads (backup), we deploy a temporary worker which will take care of things. The cost calculator will tell you an estimate of how much it will cost depending on your settings for snapshots, backup & replicas (also if you go out of region).

However customer want to know the running cost of Veeam Backup for AWS EC2 instance itself.

We think the EC2 running cost of Veeam Backup for AWS (t2.medium) instance is 0.046$.
We also believe that the cost of EBS volumes attached to the Veeam Backup for AWS EC2 instance itself will be incurred.
Therefore, I want to check how much EBS volume is attached to Veeam Backup for AWS EC2 instance.

VB for AWS comes with 2 volumes. 1 is the OS (8G), the other is the data disk (20G).

Whats the cheapest way to license VB for AWS? Is the paid version through the Market Place comparable to any BYOL models?

Hi Mark, the best thing to do regarding sales and pricing would be to talk to your local Veeam sales regarding all the options. It's hard to tell which one fits better depending on the infrastructure and potential existing Veeam products (VUL licensing for example).
