Snapshot tagging

Post by collinp »

Is anyone having issues with the custom tags setting not persisting within the backup policy? I set a custom tag in the backup policy and save the policy. I verify the policy once again to show that my custom tag is still configured for the policy. I run the job(policy)and see in the AWS console that the snapshot indeed has the custom tag applied to it. I check the Veeam backup policy after the complete job has run and see that the custom tag that I created in the policy is missing. All permission checks pass. Case#05230751

We are not aware of any issues with assigning custom tags.

Can you clarify the last part? Do you mean that after the policy has run, the custom tag settings are gone in the policy? Or are they removed from the snapshot?

After the policy has run, the custom tag settings are gone from the policy. But the custom tag stays applied to the snapshot. After a 2nd iteration of the policy being run, the policy obviously no longer applies the custom tag to the snapshot since the custom tag is now missing from the policy settings

Understood. We will look into this if we can simulate the same behavior. For now, please continue working via the support case.

It only happens when snapshot replication is enabled.

Hi Collin,

I see that your case has been progressing and certain things have been found. We are looking at it internally as well on what could be an issue.

Please continue working with support.

Hi Collin,

I got an update that the behavior you are seeing is indeed a bug and that it is listed to be fixed in an upcoming update/release.

FWIW I notice the same behaviour mentioned in the original post. I'm on the latest version and from time to time have to re-add my custom tags.
