Veeam for AWS APIs

Post by kturner »

Hello,

I'm trying to find if there are any way to grab data from Veeam for AWS. I haven't been able to find any information yet, and would like to grab job information if possible before going through the process of spinning up a test. If anyone has any information, help a man out!

Thank You,

Kevin

Hi Kevin, v1 does not have a public API currently. We’ll take your request into consideration but can’t provide any ETA.

Its there a way to run Veeam Enterprise Manager in AWS or on prem to manage the Veeam for AWS and then use the VEM Rest API?

I was having a look in to this and I found this use blog (https://jorgedelacruz.uk/2019/12/13/vee ... p-for-aws/) albeit it not exactly what you are after, it may offer some additional job information if you have a on prem VB&R instance.

No. Veeam backup for AWS doesn’t integrate with EM. The link you posted is referring to using the external repo feature for VBR to be able to work with the backups from AWS.

Could you explain a bit more why you would want to manage VB for AWS via the enterprise manager? Are they specifics you are missing now within VB for AWS? What exactly do you want to use from the API?

Currently, the only integration is by adding the S3 storage to VBR to open up recovery options but this doesn’t provide API possibilities.

Hello,
I wrote that blog post, as said, that is specific for adding the External Repository into VBR (which points to an S3 Bucket with VBA Backups), in Veeam ONE you can get some visibility of it as well:

Other than that, and without an official API as of yet, there is not much more visibility. As Niels requested, ideas and feedback are really welcome to see the potential use case.

Thank you for taking the time of posting, Adrian.
