Veeam for AWS v3 - VPC backup
Hi all,
i open this thread because online, i can't find any useful information related.
I updated Veeam for AWS appliance to the last version 3.0.0.319,
i got correct implementation with VBR console 10.0.1.4854 as well using the plugin version 10.0.3.825.
To be honest, it's wonderful, it looks literally what i was looking for since long time
EC2 and RDS policies works perfectly.
I was testing the new function for VPC settings backup and i get this error:
<94d8> Error [TryInvokeAsync] Attempt: 1/10. Fail: Cannot have more than 20 resources described with reference to LoadBalancers.....
After the upgrade i reviewed all policies from the newer cloud template from v3.
Do you think i missed some parameter? or maybe any advise on his limitations?
As i don't want to stress the support immediately,
i share this information with the community before going through with the technical team.
Thanks in advance for your help

Hi Mike,
not yet a case opened, if you think it's better, i can do it and paste here the result going through with the technical team.
As i have no online reference to check needed prerequisites for this new topic,
i just shared to check with the experience of the community
Thanks
Alessandro

Re: Veeam for AWS v3 - VPC backup
Hi all,
after installing the Veeam backup for AWS v3 update, the web console didn't longer opened and therefore no backups in AWS are performed. I can't even see the information about the program to report the correct Id to veeam support. I've tried restarting the server, but that doesn't help. When opening the Veeam page in my browser I get the error 502 Bad Gateway nginx/1.14.0 (Ubuntu) but the update installation page is still available at //updater
support case #04542714

Hi @SergeyGCHR, that sounds like the service fails to start for some reason. Please continue working with support to resolve the issue.

Re: Veeam for AWS v3 - VPC backup
Quick update,
looks like VAWS (or maybe me or maybe some AWS APIs) attempted some limits on AWS,
with the support we are looking at CloudTrail logs to check which one could be the root cause.
I'll keep you posted
Cheers

Re: Veeam for AWS v3 - VPC backup
Feedback,
it's a limitation of Veeam for AWS system. I requested an hotfix and the support confirmed this will be included in next updates as well.
To share my case with the forum here is my message on VPC backup log:

It's related on tags limitation, as per our FinOps strategy we literally tag the world. Sorry for that!

Alessandro

Re: Veeam for AWS v3 - VPC backup
Hi Alessandro,
Thanks for the update. Happy to see we've found the reason for the issue and a hotfix is possible.
No need to say sorry for using tools as intended

Re: Veeam for AWS v3 - VPC backup
Quick update to close the circle!
The super Veeam support sent me an hotfix and it solved the issue!
veeamawsbackup_3.0.0.334_amd64.deb (around 50 MB)
Now the VPC backup is working
Thanks!!

Hi Alessandro, thanks for being active and providing updates. If anybody else runs into the Load Balancer limitations, they are able to contact support and refer to this thread for the hotfix.
