Veeam for AWS versus AWS Backup

Post by neilmurphy65 » 1 person likes this post

Hi all.

I work for a distributer selling both Veeam and AWS products. Something I'm confused about is what advantages there are in using Veeam for AWS versus the native AWS Backup service.

AWS Backup lists the following features: centralized management, policy-based backup, automated scheduling, automated retention management, lifecycle management policies, incremental backups, cross-region backups, cross-account backups, monitoring, data security and compiance (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI, etc).

So what's missing that Veeam for AWS provides?

Many thanks.

Hi Neil,

These forums are meant for technical discussions around our products and are not that much used for comparison against other solutions.

Veeam offers VB for AWS as part of a platform that allows you to create backups and restore them anywhere you want (even outside AWS). While some things may overlap in terms of features, there are quite some features that are unique to Veeam's platform (such as deeper integrations with applications, FLR, etc).

Should you have any questions on specific features of our offering, we'll gladly answer those!
