Veeam for AWS working over endpoints only

I have the s3 enpoint working, have a green check box when configuring the workers.
I am wanting to configure EC2 endpoint in veeam for AWS, I set the EC2 endpint interface in the hosts file.. then removed the public IP and it fails. Add the public IP back and now works.. again.
Is there a way to configure without a public IP and work over the endpoints only?

Hi Mike, this is one of the requirements for now as we perform certain API calls via the public IP so there is no direct workaround. Support may be able to give more insight but I don't think a proper workaround is possible for now.
