Can Veeam Backup Appliance 3.X do Multi-Tenant
I'll admit I'm new to Veeam, however I've built the Linux Veeam Backup Appliance and the configuration went off without a hitch. It is in a Subscription, and particularly in a resource group that is vnet peered to another tenant.
When I went to create my first policy, and I went to click on the source I was hoping to see both tenants, instead I only saw my main tenant, and all the subscriptions that the Veeam appliance resides in, however I do not see the other side of that vnet peered tenant.
After reading through the forums, and being newer with Veeam. Can Veeam actually do multi-tenant VM snapshots, and database backups from one tenant from one source and the destination be another source?
I've opened a Case with Veeam and sent up logs, but figured I may get a quicker answer here. Thank you for your answer/s.

Hi,
You can add multiple service accounts and create a repository in another account normally to send backups there. Is this what you are looking for?
Could you also provide us the case ID for future reference?

Re: Can Veeam Backup Appliance 3.X do Multi-Tenant
Hello, we are not a service provider, we are a regular company who uses veeam backup software currently on AWS. We heard that the Veeam backup appliance can be used for backing up multi-tenants, we do not use lighthouse, I understood lighthouse was only for AWS, we are only talking about a use case in Azure in this case.
So we have a main tenant lets call it Tenant A with say 36 subscriptions under it. Then there is a Tenant B we want to lift and shift Tenant B that has 32 subscriptions. These are all Vnet Peered to each other at the Resource Group. What I thought Veeam was capable of doing in Azure was be able to see both tenants on Backup Appliance Setup, so when going to setup a new policy, I could pick the source from Tenant B and send the VM snapshots, and data backups over to Tenant A where they are new Subscriptions waiting for them to land.
However this is not the case, when configuring the appliance it only sees Tenant A and nothing in Tenant B at setup time therefor it clearly cannot see Tenant B as a source. Hence my question. Can Veeam Backup Appliance Alone running in Tenant A be able to with some configuration be able to get at Tenant B as the source data? Is the Veeam appliance capable of that, is there something else I need to do on the appliance in Tenant A do I have to install something in Tenant B on the other set of where I'm Vnet peered.
Thank you all in advance,
Al McCulloch,

Hi,
If you add tenant B under the Azure account page, you can protect both tenant A and B. Have you already tried this?
Lighthouse is indeed a service for service providers within Azure but it’s not required for adding multiple accounts.

Re: Can Veeam Backup Appliance 3.X do Multi-Tenant
Hello,
Yes, both Tenant A and Tenant B are in our Azure Account Page. I switch between the two depends on which tenant I'm working with. Tenant B we want to Migrate to Tenant A. I've been building the Appliance in Tenant A, is this what you are referring too? In the appliance service principle configuration step I believe it goes out and finds all of the Tenant A accounts but not Tenant B.

To clarify, with Azure accounts page, I am talking about the page under the VBA configuration. You can add multiple service accounts (use this to add tenant B) and then you can create a repository in another account normally to send backups there.
