Worker instance shared VPC network
Hi,
I am new to this product and I tried to configure the worker instance.
However, there is a need to input the VPC network, is that a way to use the shared VPC network instead of VPC network in the project?
Thanks.
Vincent

Re: Worker instance shared VPC network
Hi Vincent, v2 should support this. Is this also the version you deployed?

Re: Worker instance shared VPC network
Hi Vincent,
make sure that service account used to access the workers project has at least the following IAM roles:
- Compute Network Viewer at the project level of Shared VPC host project
AND
- Compute Network User set at specific subnetworks you want to use with Veeam Backup
Alternatively you can set Compute Network User role for the service account at the project level, in this case Veeam Backup has access to all currently defined and future subnets in the host project.
Don't forget to run rescan on Instances tab in Veeam Backup web UI or wait for daily rescan.

Re: Worker instance shared VPC network
Hi
I managed to get it to work by sharing the subnet to the service account.
By the way, can you please explain how is the backup work? Is it done by creating the instance machine image?
I don't see any machine images created and a lot of files created in the backup repository.
thanks

Re: Worker instance shared VPC network
I actually read thru the user guide but it did not explain what is being back up and store in the storage bucket.
It is not the VM image and contains a lot of folders. The user guide did not explain the file structure in the storage bucket.

Re: Worker instance shared VPC network
We convert the snapshot into our format to store it into the storage buckets (divided in objects). It's similar to how it's done in Veeam Backup & Replication.
We do not recommend to adjust, modify or delete any of the files within the backup storage bucket.
