321 Rule for VBO in Azure

Post by gingerdazza »

Hi, would be very grateful if someone could advise how the 3-2-1 rule can be achieved with VBO in Azure?

Hi Dazza

Are you talking about VBO365 Backup Data in Azure Blob Storage? At the moment, it‘s not possible to create a copy of the data.
In the next release of the software, a backup copy job feature is planned to be included. You should be able todo a backup copy job to Azure Archive Storage.
Statement from Veeam

If you are talking about a vbo server in azure with locally attached disks, then you need to create a backup of this vm with vss (agent or Veeam Backup for Azure) to create a copy of the backup data.

Thanks. So, in the latter scenario (VBO Azure VM with local disks) native Azure Backup could be used instead of Veeam Backup for Azure?
Is there any roadmap/plan to support Azure Blob Object Lock for immutability, which I think has been "on the way" for some time now?

Hi Dazza,

Immutability is on the roadmap for some vNext, but no specific dates yet.
