Anything to secure after switching from "Basic" to "Modern" authentication?

Post by KOPFteam »

After upgrading Veeam for Office 365 from version 4 to version 5 I also switched from "Basic" authentication to "Modern" authentication (without legacy protocols).
Is there anything I should do concerning security? Any permissions that were created for basic authentication and that are no longer necessary?

Thanks,
Florian

I'm not sure if I understand the question entirely to be honest.

When you switched, you don't need the "service account" anymore that you have used to authenticate. Is that the question?

Yes, this was the question. I'm not sure, because as of https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... tml?ver=50 I need to logon using an account with the "Global Administrator" role. And to backup Teams, this user has to have a Teams license. So it's the "servie account" again (because my Admin doesn't have a license).

Correct, you need to logon with that account (once) to be able to create the app permissions. After that, you don't need the account anymore. It's a one-time operation.
