Dear forum,
For a customer project I'm currently planning the use of the Azure Marketplace image of Veeam Backup für Microsoft 365. This setup is based on a Windows server and I'm currently wondering where the license is coming from.
I just deployed the image to a demo tentant and the Windows OS is already activated when the deployment is done. Does the license (including its right) come with the image provided by Veeam or does the customer have to change the license to one of his own?
Thanks in advance!
Lukas

Re: Azure Marketplace Image - Windows license
Hi Lukas
With Azure Windows based VMs, the windows license is automatically included in the per-minute compute cost of your Azure VM.
You can select to bring your own license while you are deploying the machine from the marketplace (or afterwards). This will save some money on the compute costs:

I suggest to reach out to your Microsoft contacts if you want to know more about your options to license an Azure VMs.
Best,
Fabian
