Is it normal for Backup 365 to be running some sort of maintenance task in the background. I noticed that even though I don't have any jobs running, there's a fair amount of disk I/O (see screenshot). My backup server is reconstructing RAID, so this is causing my VMWare backups to exceed their windows. Is there a way to have Backup 365 only perform tasks during certain hours?
edit: Having trouble posting a screenshot. It's the Veeam.Archiver.Proxy.exe process reading/writing to various repository.adb, repository.jfm, and adb.log files.

Re: Background Disk I/O
Hello Corey
These files are database files and are always open in read/write by the Veeam.Archiver.Proxy.exe process. They will only be closed when you disable the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 services.
Best,
Fabian

If you suspect that this process is creating too much disk I/O outside of a backup job session, you may want to check your retention scheduler. The scheduler for applying retention can be found in the repository settings (last step, button "advanced").Is it normal for Backup 365 to be running some sort of maintenance task in the background.

Re: Background Disk I/O
Thanks for the reply. I understand that the files would remain open, but as of right now that process is reading at 28MB/s and writing at 15MB/s (with no active job). I wouldn't expect that unless there's some sort of maintenance or retention process. I do have retention enabled, are you saying that the retention gets applied while the job isn't active?

Re: Background Disk I/O
Yes. Retention is applied at a specific time. And its configured in the repository settings (please check the link I shared with you).
It's possible that right now the retention gets applied.
If you want to have confirmation then please open a support case and share the case number with us for our reference.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Background Disk I/O
Ah, that makes a lot of sense! (and the timing aligns with my problem). Thanks
