Backup Azure VBO Server with Object Storage

Post by tschw_ham »

Hello Veeam Community,

I am actually unable to find the answer for the following question:

If there is a VBO Server in Azure which is configured with Azure Object Storage as repository. Is it possible to backup the entire VM, including the repository, with VBW? And is it possible to do single item restores when integrated in VBR?

If you search the azure marketplace, you can find VBO in there but you will have to manually add Azure BLOB storage to it (this is not automatically done).

You can use VAW to back up the VBO server and if you send backups to VBR, you can call the explorers via VBR to perform the same type of restores.

Hello Niels,

just to be sure I want to clarify this part "You can use VAW to back up the VBO server and if you send backups to VBR, you can call the explorers via VBR to perform the same type of restores."

Is it also possible when object storage is attached to the VBO server?

Yes, but to clarify, we won’t backup data from within the object storage with VAW. We will just back up the OS and extra disks attached to the VM.
