Hy!
How can I plan the on-premise repository if I want to backup all users data from OneDrive? If there is 1500 users with 250Gb data in OneDrive, the total data is 366Tb? So If I plan the repository do I need at least min. 400Tb repository? (taking the increase of the data?)
Are there any best practice to plan the on-premise repository to backup all M365 data?
Thanks.

Re: Backup OneDrive data to on-premise repository
Hi Adam
If you have 1500*250GB Data, then you need the storage to store the backup of
With repositories based on jet Databases (Local Disk, ISCSI/FC attached Disks) you get around approximately 10% compression and with repositories based on object storage, you get approximately 40-50% compression.
Best to use our Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 Capacity Calculator to do the repository sizing: https://calculator.veeam.com/
For the best practice, read through our Best Practice Guide: https://bp.veeam.com/vbo/
My own recommendations:
- Never use your VBR Server to do the backups, use a dedicated machine for VB365
- Go with an Object Storage repository for this size
- Use our new Backup Copy Job Feature to copy the backups to cheap Archive Object Storage to leverage the 3-2-1 rule
