Backup traffic flow

Hi. I was wondering how it is possible to setup the backup so that O365 backup traffic goes directly from O365 cloud to Azure storage, without hair-pinning via an on-premises VBO backup server? Or does the VBO need to be provisioned inside Azure to achieve this?

The VBO Proxy needs to be deployed in Azure if you want to have the traffic flow directly to Azure Blob.
The proxy writes the data to the backup Repo.
