Backup VBO Repo to tape

Post by Marcus1414 »

I have deployed a VBO server in VM and its VBO Proxy + Repository on a physical server (LUN attached) which is also a backup proxy+repo for VBR server (Same LUN but different folder). I would like to backup the VBO repo to tape and this options can't be achieved from VBO. Meanwhile, the VBO repo is also physical server where VBR can't see the repo and back it up to tape. Would like to know is there any alternatives that can backup VBO repo to tape?

You can backup the VBO server with VM or Agent processing to Backup & Replication and then perform a Backup to Tape job there. Incremental processing possible.

Alternative, you can use File to Tape Jobs to do this directly (please use VSS Guest processing in the Jobs). As the database changes and are detected as file change, it will be a always a full backup.

If I'm going to use the File to Tape jobs, how would the restoration be like? Can these tape backups be seen in Veeam Explorers?

If you restore the files back to disk, you can mount them using the Veeam Explorer. Direct restore using the explorers from Tape isn't possible.

Hi Niels

That work for Sharepoint, Teams and OneDrive Backups.
But for Exchange Online Backups, i cannot see a option to mount vbo365 databases, only connect to a vbo365 Server.

U can click the add store button and select the first option: "Microsoft Exchange mailbox database..." and then point to the ADB & log files containing the Exchange backups.

Edit after your image came through: you can also click "Add Microsoft Exchange mailbox database..." from the menu on your screenshot.
