Can we use the VBO server as internet proxy

Post by OzFenric »

Our environment has VBO and proxy servers in a private network with endpoints, which is all working fine. We're trying to attach a proxy in a remote data center using a site-to-site VPN. The connection is working and the VBO and proxy are communicating. However backups to this proxy are failing. The proxy server does not have direct internet access, so we're trying to use an internet proxy for it, for which we're trying to use the VBO server. Will this configuration work? Are there any port/firewall considerations to take into account (i.e. the VBO machine needing extra ports open)?

Our backup attempts are failing with an error such as:

Error: Unable to connect to the remote server
... at Veeam.Azure.ActiveDirectory.Graph.GraphRetry.ProcessHttpRequestException(HttpRequestException error, TimeSpan& wait)
Error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond

Hello,
We're trying to attach a proxy in a remote data center using a site-to-site VPN.
this proxy means a VBO proxy machine, right?
so we're trying to use an internet proxy for it, for which we're trying to use the VBO server
I did not hear from such designs, but if you install a HTTP / internet proxy on the VBO server and the VBO server has all required ports open to the internet then it should work.

Just curious: which proxy software do you use?

Best regards,
Hannes

Hey,

You can, per proxy, set a dedicated internet proxy. See here: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... tml?ver=50

The proxies will download the data themselves and don't need the controller for that.
