Hi.
After a retention policy accident, mails were permanently removed from the sent items folder. All mails older 30 days are gone.
What is the quickest way to restore items for multiple mailboxes in this case.
Can this be achived with a PS script and Veeam M365?
Thanks
Sascha

Re: Case # 07230691 - Restore of sent items for multiple mailboxes
Hi Sascha
Thank you for the case number. I'm in contact with your local system engineer from Veeam.
Please give me some time to check the case with our team.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Case # 07230691 - Restore of sent items for multiple mailboxes
Hello Sascha
I talked to the team. 1 TB per day is a restore speed we expect. I checked other online services which are working with EWS API from Microsoft and they also are not able to upload multiple terabytes per day through EWS API to Exchange Online.
It's important to note that restoring "only missing items" will also add additional processing time to the restore task. The backup server has to determine which items have to be restored and which items not. This will add additional time to the restore session.
For now please keep working with our support team until everything is restored.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Case # 07230691 - Restore of sent items for multiple mailboxes
Hi Fabian,
Thanks for the infos.
Is the 1TB per tenant or for each Veeam Environment?
For example, if I set up another Veeam Proxy not connected to the existing one, can I reach 2TB?
When I need to restore SharePoint at the same time is the SharePoint Restore affected too?
Thanks
Sascha

Re: Case # 07230691 - Restore of sent items for multiple mailboxes
Hello Sascha
A second proxy server won't help today with a single repository. Only one proxy can connect to the same object storage repository (or jet database).
But our upcoming version 8 will allow multiple proxies (proxy pools) working with the same repository.
Also in version 8, restores initiated by the RestAPI will be processed directly by the proxy server. That should help to allow multiple proxy server doing the restores simultaneously.
I don't have the number about restore times yet. But proxy pools will allow you to scale your environment much easier for restores and backups.
Best,
Fabian
