Configuration backup?

Post by PerfectWare »

In older version this option is available via the menu, but I cannot seem to find how/where to make a backup of the configuration in VEEAM O365.

Hi Peter,

Veeam Backup for Office 365 doesn't feature configuration backup (it's VBR that does have this option).
If I'm missing anything here, please point me to the VBO365 version where you've seen this available.

Peter, welcome to the community!

I think it is Veeam B&R feature called Configuration Backup and Restore.
Please check the link and confirm if that is what you're looking for. Thanks!

That explains why i cannot find that feature. Thanks for confirmation!

It is a bit strange though, that such -imo important- feature is missing.

Is there a generic way for feauture requests?

Hello everyone,

sorry for capturing this thread, but I was asked the exact same question (is it possible so backup the configuration so, if needed, you can install a new VM, restore the configuration and start where you left off?). Is that feature available by now? I couldn't find any method to do so (V 4.0.0.2516).

I'd like to echo PerfectWare on this.. This is an important feature especially for a service provider, the development should be accelerated.

Kevin, your request is noted. For now we advise to back up the VBO console with VAW (which is always a good thing besides configuration backup).

Thanks Niels, question though I was needing to restore the O365 deployment to a new VBR server. After re-installing VBO on to said server what folders/files would I need to restore (given a default installation)? Would I just need to re-attach the separate VBO repository server and would it then simply find the required meta-data for the existing backups?

[Feature Request] ConfigBackup

Post by grigatkis »

Hi,

I'd like to be able to do a configbackup of the Backup for Office 365, same as with Backup&Replication.

This could save a lot of bother if the backup server ever decided to die.
Some customers are stingy with the licensing and if you have a couple hundred users where every user that gets added to the backup is decided on a case-by-case basis.

This has two use cases:
- easy migration of the backup jobs from an old to a new backup server
- recreating the backup jobs could be rather time consuming if there's an issue with the OS-level backup of the backup server.

Best regards,
Rickmer
