Copy job retry

Post by tm67 » 1 person likes this post

Hi
I am running multiple backup jobs, and every job has also a backup copy job with enabled immutability.
Sometimes the copy jobs are failing with an error like this "The remote server returned an error: (502) Bad Gateway".
On the normal backup jobs, the error is not appearing. I think, this is because in the backup job, we have the option to retry failed objects/jobs. I have configured "retry failed objects processing 3 times" and "wait before each retry attempt for 10 minutes".

I am wondering if there is any option to enable a retry also on the copy job. I did not see it as an option.

I am using "Immediate" copy jobs.

Thanks
Timo

Hi Timo,

Copy jobs don't have the retry option, however, on the next scheduled run, it will grab all the data from the latest created restore point plus the data that failed to be transferred before that.

Hi Polina
Thanks, is this something that will be included in a future release?
It might help to get all the jobs to state success and reduce unnecessary monitoring effort since the copy jobs will most likely run the next time successful. At least, this is what I am experiencing. Now I get some monitoring alerts that I don't really can / must do anything to fix the warnings.

Hi Timo,

I cannot promise you anything right now, but your use case makes sense and I'll consider it for future releases.

Thanks!
