Creating a repository on a Synology

Post by johnbo »

I used to keep my repository on a standard windows computer in the c:\ drive but in time the repository grew and grew using up lots of the space on the computer so I want to create a new repository on my attached Synology NAS unit. The problem is that when I try to make a repository I have to give it the path to the folder I want to use such as:
\\192.168.1.60\Scans\veeam\
The problem is that it will not see that folder I the drive or authenticate it either. I do have that folder mapped already with my computer as the S drive and can see from the computer but Veeam will not.
Any solution to this? has anyone setup a Synology NAS for this?

I all so do not use the Domain name for logging into the computer

Hello John

We recommend object storage as storage for Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.

Using an SMB share with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 is absolutely not recommended. Stability and performance will be bad. We only provide experimental support and it comes with a few requirements, such as having an active directory.

Instead of SMB, please create a iSCSI target and LUN on your Synology and connect it to the VB365 server as a new disk. Then use a folder on this disk as your repository.
