Deployment questions
Hi,
i have a vbr infrastructure with enough free space on the local repositories.
Now there are two options for deployment:
As it is for max. 500 Users, simple deployment with all components on one server is chosen.
1. VM with VBO repository on the production storage.
2. VBO on the VBR server and the VBO repository on the VBR repository volume.
2 questions beside the performance considerations:
- backup: is it possible to backup the data with the vss integration and single item restore via vbr, if option 2 is chosen and how to do that?
- is it generally supported with option 2?
Thank you in advance
Karsten

Re: Deployment questions
Kasten,
First question I need to ask: Will you use it for service provider purposes?

Re: Deployment questions
btw.
how to separate the jobs and repositories with the presence of teams?
Should i separate in exchange, onedrive, sharepoint and teams each. So data objects for teams like mailboxes and sharepoint are redundant.

Re: Deployment questions
Karsten,
In this case I always advice to keep them separate, and make the VBO server virtual. In that case VBR can protect the entire service and you can do ILR from the VBR backup.
For your second question: Not needed, it depends on the size of the customer. One thing is: If you protect teams, then the sharepoint site/ mailbox from that team will be excluded from the other backups as it is connected to the team.
Last but not least, if the customer is of a decent size, and looking at the future, we do advice to consider object storage repositories

Re: Deployment questions
Hi Mike,
thank you very much for your input.
I will go with the vm. I think, the benefit of the integration in vbr is worth it.
separate data objects: as the technical deployment guide says, i want to separate it. But i agree, teams is not the best „object“ to separate.
Object storage is a thing, but one big concern is the lack of proper backup with vbr or something like that.
Thanks again.
