error 500

Hi,
We are using the Veeam for office 365 for sometimes now, but lately we get many warning when backup the Onedrive or some data in our Sharepoint sites.
For example the warning for some of Sharepoint library says that when backup a document the server return an error 500
Also the backup of Onedrive for some users also says the server return an error 500
We have enough licenses and we are running the last version of the software.
Any idea why we get these warnings?

Hi Shahin,

Please contact Veeam Support to get a hotfix. This issue is caused by an unexpected change on the O365 side, and, unfortunately, we couldn't predict it in advance.

We've had this problem for about 2 weeks.
Veeam Support was able to fix this quickly once contacted.

For us they did the following things.
  • Stopped the services
  • Checked that we hade the correct version (5.0.0.1063)
  • Added a string to C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup365\proxy
  • Started the services

Got this summary from Veeam support.

This issue appears related to a new issue that came up with our API calls to Microsoft during our backup process. We are working closely with our partners at Microsoft to find the root cause of the issue and provide a permanent hotfix. We do currently have a workaround in place:

1. Stop Veeam.Archiver.Proxy.exe service.
2. Navigate to the Backup Proxy that is processing the Backup Job in question.
3. Open the C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup365\Proxy.xml file using any text editor (as Administrator) and add the following lines into Veeam/Archiver/Source XML tag so that it looks like this:

<Veeam>
<Archiver>
<Source UserAgent="ISV|Veeam Software|Veeam Backup for Office 365/5.0" />

If the <Source /> Line already exists, please add this information to it
UserAgent="ISV|Veeam Software|Veeam Backup for Office 365/5.0".

4. Save the document, start Proxy service, test the backup job.

A small update: this issue is fixed in the recently released version 5b (see more here post218411.html#p218411)
