evaluation questions

Post by tommls »

I've just started learning about possible O365 backup solutions and the millions of options out there...
Regarding VBO, some questions:
1) Can it back up to Exagrid and will the Exagrid deduplicate the backups like it does with normal virtual server backups??
2) Can one do a periodic backup copy to different storage like Veeam B&R does??
3) What does VBO *not* back up??
4) Any kind of storage estimator/calculator to help know how much storage one needs for O365 backup??
Thank you, Tom

1) VBO does not support deduplication devices. For a list of supported storage, please see the user guide.
2) This is not directly possible within VBO however if you run VBO in a VM, you can use VBR to back it up. Another options is to use the Veeam Agent for Windows and target a VBR server.
3) VBO supports Exchange (Online), SharePoint (Online) and Onedrive for Business (including OneNote). The upcoming v5 release will also support Teams. Do you have specific services or requests which you need to know if they are included?
4) We have several community projects, one of them can be found in this blog post.

Hi!
I am work at ExaGrid and can help to answer you questions.

1) Yes it is possible to do with ExaGrid. So please reach out to your local SE at ExaGrid and they will help you with a design.
2) Yes. In a ExaGrid setup it is possible even if VBO.
3) Exagrid support everything that Veeam supports. Guess this one is more directed towards Veeam?
4) Yes. All ExaGrid SEs have a sizing tool for this purpose. So if you want a sizing proposal then please reach out to your local ExaGrid SE.

Hope this helps to shed some light on your questions. Let me know if there is anything else you need.

Cheers,
/Tommy
