Hi,
our scenario
~100 from ~2000 employees are members of AD security group sg_o365_localbackup, that is targeted by the only VBO backup job. We have enough VBO licenses for this chosen group but not more (their data are somehow more important to backup then the others). Need to backup M365 part only (nothing on onprem)
expectations
- mailboxes of accounts in chosen group being backed up (works)
- onedrives of accounts in chosen group being backed up (works)
- sharepoint sites, in which is any account in chosen group, are being backed up (stopped working long time ago, noticed now, now our support case.)
- teams groups, in which is any account in chosen group, are being backed up (will not be working by design of VBO, told me support engineer today, case #05187392)
Question is, how can we achieve/design consistent VBO backup experience, so also Teams backup in VBO will follow members of chosen group?
Or, how can be VBO backup job designed in a way that permits to filter its focus on chosen group instead of all org?
Best
Petr

Re: everybody in onprem group gots backed up, except their group Teams
Hey Petr,
That is not possible as of today. Even if you add team groups, you are actually adding an M365 group and not really a team. The underlying technology works a bit different so if we query a group, we get a group as a result, not a team. But it is a good request, however, we will need to talk to MSFT to get the correct information when we query their API. And I know it is not designed like this so this might be a big change for them (and therefore might not get approved)
