ExchangeImpersonation SOAP error
Hi guys, in the last two - three days about 5 customers hit this error during Office 365 backup on most of their mailboxes:
Processing mailbox xxx failed with error: Failed to get folder properties. An ExchangeImpersonation SOAP header must contain a user principal name, user SID, or primary SMTP address.
It's a know issue? I can open a support ticket if needed
Cheers,
Marco

Re: ExchangeImpersonation SOAP error
Marco,
Yes, please open a support ticket and post the support ID + follow up after investigation here.
Any change that those users have changed their primary SMTP address?

Re: ExchangeImpersonation SOAP error
Hello, my case id is 02192153
There was no changes on user configuration
I'll let you know about the solution, I suppose is some back-end change made by Microsoft on Office 365 backend

Re: ExchangeImpersonation SOAP error
So far non really helpful the Support Ticket:
Thank you for the actual logs. I see the details of the issue: this error occurs on the Exchange level and is not related to Veeam directly.
Here's a couple of Microsoft articles that might be helpful in this case:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/librar ... 2147217396
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/librar ... .140).aspx
We also can open a Microsoft support case on your behalf and engage in a conference call with Microsoft support to help identify the issue and show that it is not Veeam-related. If you need such assistance, please provide me with your Microsoft ID (SAxxxxxx).
Please let me know if it helps.

Re: ExchangeImpersonation SOAP error
Hi Marco,
I think you went to the next tier with support and are doing some more test before doing a joint call with Microsoft. Correct?

Re: ExchangeImpersonation SOAP error
After some tests seems to be some Office 365 / Microsoft issue with “ApplicationImpersonation” role assigned to user running backups (I was pretty sure about that)
Manually assigning the “ApplicationImpersonation” role / permission doesn't solve the issue
Actually I have about five Office 365 tenants with this issue, ranging from 1 to about 10 mailbox that fails to backup on each tenant
I have to contact Microsoft for further analysis but... I think will lease things as is
Cheers, Marco

Re: ExchangeImpersonation SOAP error
Marco,
Sorry to hear that it didn't work out. Those users that you are using (from what I can see in the support case) are they actually having an email address? Any change they are unlicensed users or other type of users?
