Hi Guys,
We ran into an issue recently with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.
We are a SP Provider so security is of the upmost importance and as such we have a restricted list of server that can use SMTP.
However we recently worked out Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 sends email notifications from the proxies themselves, unlike B&R which sends email notifications from the management server.
This means we have had to whitelist all proxies.
Could you add a feature request to allow for email notifications to be sent from the management server?
Thanks,
Richard

Re: Feature Reqests
Hi Richard
Welcome to the forum.
Let me check that. Per our Guide, SMTP only have to be opened from the Management Server and not the proxies.
I'll come back to you with an answer.
Thanks
Fabian

Re: Feature Reqests
Hi Richard
Thanks for your patience. I have checked it in my lab and our help center again.
We send the notifications as you detected by the proxies who has run the backup job.
This is documented in our helpcenter on this page. But I'm still missing the Port requirement for the backup proxies on the used port Page. We will add it to the guide.
For the feature request itself, about how many proxy servers are we talking? Is whitelisting this IP addresses a huge security concern?
PS:
If you are a service provider, please add yourself to the Cloud & Service Providers User Group to get access to our dedicated server provider subforums.

Re: Feature Reqests
Hi Mildur,
We have whitelisted all proxies for now, but is more a management issue long term.
I think to either use only the management server like VBR or provide an option to push to the management server would be useful especially for larger installations like ours.
Thanks for the link to the C&SP User Group.

Hi Richard
Thanks.
I will do some thinking about it and discuss it with the team if necessary.

You must use a mail address with your companies mail domain for your user account to get access to the SP group. Or it will not work. Thanks for the link to the C&SP User Group.
