Feature Request - notifications
So far this product is working out pretty well. Got the whole lot of mailboxes backed up after a few attempts. Was wondering about some kind of notification functionality where I get emailed whether a job succeeds or fails, and the details.
Thanks,
Mark
Thanks,
Mark

Hey Mark,
No email notification in the beta. Not sure if this will be in the GA version. I will need to verify.
On another note, can you share with us the # of mailboxes, total size, time of full (first) backup and time of incremental? We would love to see some numbers and performance data
Thanks
Mike

Mark,
FYI, I asked and got confirmation that mail notifications won't be in v1 but this is a feature request that is on the table for further versions
Thanks
Mike

It's hard to say as the backup failed a number of times due to some kind of issue between the VM it's on and the NAS it stores to. I can PM you a link to the logs if you have a way of figuring out how long the backup took?
Also, thanks for confirming that while notifications aren't going to be in Version 1, that they're on the roadmap.
Thanks,
Mark

[MERGED] Monitor backup success, failure, and warnings
I might be missing it but VBR will send out emails on Success, Failure, or Warning. I couldn't find a place to input any smtp settings. My main concern is missed backups. Over the weekend my backup was failing and a reboot of the server fixed the issue but I'd like to be able to be alerted on a failed backup. My company also has a monitoring solution we use for alerting so leveraging that would be ideal. I'm withholding monitoring solution name in case its against forum rules.
Any help with monitoring would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Feature Request - notifications
Hi,
There are no mail notifications in beta and won't be in v1. Also there is no such rule that restricts posting other vendors' names so please feel free to post it. It will be interesting to know what software our customers use
Also could you share with us the # of mailboxes, total size, time of full (first) backup and time of incremental please? We would love to see some numbers and performance data.
Thanks

Good news! E-mail notifications feature was squeezed into the GA build.

Re: Feature Request - notifications
Is it possible to use e-mail notifications with a server that doesn't require authentication? I've tried, but the Test Message and OK buttons are grayed out until I put something in the Username and Password fields, but then it fails because the server doesn't require authentication.

Hi David, looks like this is not currently possible. Thanks for the heads up!
