Hi folks,
First time user of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 here. I have a license for 75 users.
When I start Veeam, it pops up a message "Your license consumption has been exceeding the license cap by 20 users...."
How do I find these users so I can zap them to get back to my 75 licenses?
Appreciate any assistance, thank you
Ralph

Re: Help a newbie please :)
Hello Ralph
Welcome to our forum. There are two options to list the currently licensed users:
- Backup Console: License Overview Reports
- PowerShell: Get-VBOLicensedUser
Both options will show you which users currently have a license. For every user not on the list, there are not enough licenses available.
I assume you are trying to back up mailboxes and OneDrive for more than 95 user accounts. Excluding specific user accounts from your backup job doesn't necessarily mean that you need fewer licenses.
Let me explain why. Let's assume you have 100 active user accounts in this M365 tenant, and all 100 users have access to a Teams or SharePoint site you want to protect. According to our license policy, you need to license every user who has access to these objects. If 100 users interact with the SharePoint site you are backing up, you need 100 licenses to be compliant with our license policy.
Best,
Fabian

We allow exceeding a license by 10 users or 10% of your purchased license count, whichever is greater. If you enable "Update license automatically," you will be allowed to exceed your license by 20 users or 20% of your license count, again whichever is greater."Your license consumption has been exceeding the license cap by 20 users...."
