How to handle the Team which has enormous posts for the first full backup.

Post by yusaku »

Hi team,

My client’s environment has the Team which has enormous posts (400,000 posts) in one Team. It seems to cause Throttling for the first full backup.
1. Is there any technique to avoid Throttling?
2. Is there any way to know the current number of items which were already backed up for the specific Team in the middle of the first full backup? Because my client wants to estimate the ending time of backup.
3. Is there any way to know the number of total posts for the specific Team before backing up?

My client wants to estimate the ending time of backup so the question number 2 and 3 is helpful for the estimation.

Thanks,
Yusaku

Hi Yusaku,

Unfortunately we cannot avoid throttling. We do have techniques to avoid it as much as possible, but I assume this is the last object that needs to be protected, so that team will continue to cause throttling until the first backup is completed

For 2 and 3, no, these cannot be predicted or seen what is already done.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for answering my question :) I understood my client has to wait until the first backup is completed. They hope it will be finished by the end of the new year holiday.

Thanks,
Yusaku
