How to restore data from a deleted orga?
Two organizations "Orga A" and "Orga B" were backed up in a M365 Backup Console. In M365, all objects from "Orga A" were migrated to Orga B and are now backed up there as well.
The backup jobs from "Orga A" are now no longer needed and are deactivated. You could actually delete them, but you want to keep the old backups. But you can't delete "Orga A" without deleting the backup jobs. If you delete the backup jobs, you can't access the data behind them for a restore, because they are no longer offered to you in the selection.
Does anyone have an idea how to proceed in a sensible way?

Re: How to restore data from a deleted orga?
Hi Harald,
If you're backing up to object storage, there would be no way to explore your backups once Org A is deleted from the console. The current design does not allow for restoring backup directly from object storage when there's no organization in the scope anymore. So, with object storage, to be able to restore historical data, you need to keep your Org A in the VB365 console.

Hi Polina
Thanks for the answer. What is in the case of backup to local disk? Is it possible to hold the repositories for restore even though the orgainsation was deleted?
Best regards
Harald

what happens to the data in the object repository? is it left there (zombie data?)? deleted automatically?Polina wrote: ↑Nov 01, 2023 4:10 pm Hi Harald,

@hgrams
Local repositories can be opened in Veeam Explorers as standalone databases and you can restore the data from there.
@DaStivi
The data remains in the repository, we do not delete it. You cannot read it directly with Veeam Explorers, however, it's not zombie - if you add your organization back to VB365, it'll be available for restores.

How to delete ah repository properly?
with JetDB after deletion of "Backup repository" (and M365 Org) the JET-DB Files are still in the Filesystem... from there i can delete it with Fileexplorer...
but with S3? do i need an S3 Explorer to delete the Bucket completely?

Hi Stephan,
Each S3 repository is a folder in a bucket, and you can, indeed, delete repository folders with an S3 Explorer.
