Is it possible to restore user chat directly to Teams in future release?

Hi,

We are the heavy user on Teams and there is a need for us to back up Teams, especially for the user chat. In VBO v5, we have tested and found that we can directly restore Teams Channel back to Teams, but for User Chat, we can only retroeve it as pst or msg format or send it to an email address.

We would like to know if it is planned to release same function fro User Chat? And is there any reason why such function for User Chat is not included in this release? Is it due to technical limitation or any purpose?

Unfortunately we are limited by Microsoft API functionality in our ability to restore user chat messages in-place.

We are working with them to add this at some point in the future.

@johan.h is correct. However, in our discussions with MSFT, it seems that we might run into limitations for this. Can I ask if you have E3 or E5? It seems they would like to limit this API only to more expensive subscriptions...

We have most of subscription on M365 Business Essentials or Premium, if Microsoft limit the in-place restore API to the more expensive subscriptions, we might not be able to gain the advantage if Veeam roll out this feature in future release. May I know what types of limitation(s) might we actually face?

I can't say this at this point in time. Nothing is decided yet. I honestly hope that we will have no limits at all
