Re: Item may have a virus reported ..
Can anyone confirm if this has been implemented in the next version? The virus alert is an operational disaster.

Hi maarten,
I have bad news for you (sorry for that) - no changes to these alerts are foreseen in the upcoming release.

Re: Item may have a virus reported ..
Hi Polina,
Can you perhaps explain why this is so difficult to implement? I can still remember the OneNote time-out warning where I believe Veeam had a fix within 2 days via the proxy.xml to suppress this message. You should also be able to do this for this message, right? A good backup works both ways: 1.) the technical part and 2.) the operational part. The operational part is really forgotten in this case because of this message, especially when you have hundreds of tenants, it is almost impossible to manage and check whether a backup was successful or not. I cannot understand why this has a low priority on the Veeam side knowing that a lot of people facing this issue.

Re: Item may have a virus reported ..
is Veeam maybe low on development resources or wrong on their priorities?
i have seen „this“ problem a lot the past months. necessary changes/ features do not find their way into the product.
what is the problem? can you please explain?

Re: Item may have a virus reported ..
maarten, Karsten,
It's always a complex of matters - priorities and resources. Fixing issues that impact backup and restore functionality directly is a top priority (think of that OneDrive problem). New functionality goes next, and there's always its own prioritization upon business and technical needs. I hope my bosses won't kill me for disclosing it, but currently, my backlog includes over 280 new features, improvements and optimizations that are pending their hour to be implemented. And almost each week new items are being added.
There're already several scenarios where our users asked for the ability to ignore warning/error messages, including virus reports, SharePoint web parts, unlicensed users, and some others. Hence, I'd prefer having it as a user-friendly setting instead of another set of ugly configuration keys (which we even cannot deliver publicly). And though I cannot provide you with an ETA for this improvement, please be aware that it's not forgotten and not ignored. In due time it'll come to the product.
Thanks!

Hi Polina,
I understand, but this post has been out for almost 4 years that it's starting to lose credibility a bit. I hope it gets the right attention because people suffer from it every day.
Thanks.

Veeam, this is taking way too long and needs to be solved quickly.
We are advicing customers to use other backup software because of this. As a MSP it looks (for our customers) like we are not in controll for their backups.

Re: Item may have a virus reported ..
Yes, using the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 7.1.0.2031, my backup is also impacted by this issue despite it being just a Batch file for harmless scripting purposes only.
I assume this might be the reason:
I hope the next version will be even better.
Thank you, Veeam Team!
