Hi
We back up an organization with 3 jobs (exchange, onedrive, sharepoint/teams)
The exchange and onedrive are configured with "backup the following objects -> type: security group -> process: members (mail/archive) and onedrive: members (onedrive)". So we are working with includes and not excludes.
The sharepoint/teams job is configured: type: organization -> process: sites/teams
Lets say in the security group are 100 users, but the entire organization has 150 licensed users I would assume that we are using 100 licenses since we only back up those 100 users.
But reading https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... tml?ver=80, the personal sharepoint sites require also a license. So the total consumed license is 150.
I see multiple options right now:
- exclude all personal sites in the sharepoint job -> but this is not really an option since we want to back up everything of those 100 users
- exclude the 50 personal sites manually -> also not really an option since I dont want to track this manually
- I could create another security group with those 50 users and exclude this group in the sharepoint job -> also not really the best solution since I want an include group and not an exclude group
Is there an option I am missing? I am not really happy about any of those solutions.
I am asking myself why does a personal sharepoint site even consume a license...
Thanks for any advice
Timo

Re: license consumption, include and exclude personal sites
Hi Timo,
As discussed outside of the forum, the customer must license all users who have access to protected SharePoint Sites and Teams. While you can exclude Personal SharePoint Sites from the backup, all 150 users may still need to be licensed depending on their access to other protected SharePoint or Teams objects.
You can add the security group to the job and select "Site".

Best,
Fabian

It belongs to a user account, and licensing is based on protected users.I am asking myself why does a personal sharepoint site even consume a license...
Yes, if you only protect Personal SharePoint Sites for 100 users, then license consumption will be 100. Do you see anything different on your end?Lets say in the security group are 100 users, but the entire organization has 150 licensed users I would assume that we are using 100 licenses since we only back up those 100 users.
