License limit has been exceeded in Community Edition

Post by Daniel N. »

Hi,

in the Community Edition, I get the following error message:
"Your license limit has been exceeded by 6 users. Users exceeding the license count will not be processed"

However, I specifically only backup exactly 10 users and a sharepoint site:

Am I missing something here?

After deleting and readding the organization and all the configs multiple times, I just created a Support case #03198372.

Mike, yes I did. I read about that issue, so I went ahead and deleted the organization and the repository, so I don't have old backups of users I don't want to backup. That should reset that 31 days period, right? (Which is stupid, by the way. It shouldn't be so complicated to start with fresh licenses.)

Polina, I wasn't aware of that. We have some more users that access the SP site occasionally. But the main workload (like 99%) is done by the 10 users I wanna backup. If they really take up licenses I strongly dislike that licensing decision; especially because I can't even control that because as an admin, I can't even prevent users from inciting other users to a sp site. I'm aware that's a weak argument for someone who uses the free edition, but it also affects paying users

Daniel,

I have to apologize, as I misread your issue and my previous comment is incorrect (and will be removed) - please disregard it.

Question, if customer has more than 10 users, can we select 10 most important users and backup them, later we plan to buy and add more. Thx

Celje,

You can purchase 10 licenses (the required minimum) and then add more if needed. Please note also, that service providers are not eligible to offer Community Edition licenses to their tenants.

I have the same issue. Try to backup 1 user and get the error message: "Your license limit has been exceeded by 1 users. Users exceeding the license count will not be processed".

I have obtain a trial license to try Veeam Backup for Office 365 features.

Hi Petrushka,

First: welcome to the forums!

Second: Did you install the cumulative patch? (https://www.veeam.com/kb2765)

Hi Petrushka,

Thanks for letting me know. To be honest. It should work on a windows 10 computer also. On what build did you test it? 1803?

Hi Bastiaan,

First, thanks for creating a support case; this would help to speed up the issue investigation and resolution.
Next, as I can see you're running the 2.0.0.567 version and it's highly recommended to update it with the cumulative patch KB2765.
Also, may I ask which type of repository do you use for VBO backups?

Thanks!

I have had set an AD account on the O365 services to access remote share. Then the proxy service could not read out the license file. Solved it to change back to system service. Solution to access an share is to add the AD computer account (domain\computername$) on the remote share.

We have an SOBR architecture with services with loal storage. SOBR is not possible so I used SMB to target to remote repository. After had talked to support we now deployed the Proxy service to all our Rep's and configured local repository on those rep servers. Support told me there could be database instability issues when used over UNC/SMB.
