Litigation Hold on Deleted Item Past Retention

I have a Veeam Office 365 repository set for 1 year item-level retention. I already unchecked the litigation hold from excluded items in Veeam Backup for Office 365 so litigation hold items should get picked up. Let's say an item that is marked for litigation hold gets deleted in the Office 365 mailbox so it is only in the purges folder. Let's say time passes and it's after 1 year since the item was deleted from the mailbox. Now, if something happened on Microsoft's side and the mailbox is gone, will that item in litigation hold be recoverable in Veeam?

Hi Eric,

No. That item will be older than 1 year so past the item-level retention. I'm afraid it will be gone. You will need to increase your retention to be able to keep it longer.
