Logic from the retention policy

Post by check4backup »

Hello,

I do not understand the retention policy.

I would like to have this like VM backups. I make a backup every day for example 14 days. On the 15th day the oldest snapshot is deleted.

According to the documentation, this is not possible. The retention policy always refers to the elements, not to the time of the snapshot.

This means I can never restore the state to a specific date. Did I understand that correctly?

Best regards

Hi

Such behavior (similar to VM retention) is possible in VB365 with the snapshot based retention policy:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... -retention

You need to configure the type of retention when you create the repository in the VB365 console:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... tml?ver=70

This will allow you to restore a mailbox, SharePoint site, One Drive or Teams exactly as it was on the day you took the backup.

Best,
