Manage backup application greyed out

Hi all,
I have added the Organization using the Adding Organizations with Modern App-Only Authentication option and everything works fine with the exception that the Manage backup application button is greyed out.

How can I fix this?

Backup applications can only be used for protecting data on SharePoint and OneDrive.
It looks like you only have enabled Exchange Online backups?

Yes, I want only Exchange online backups, can you please point me to the documentation stating that? I have trouble finding that info.
If backup applications cannot be added for EXO backups, does that mean the speed will be very slow and we'll encounter heavy throttling?

EXP works over EWS. You may temporarily disable EWS throttling if you are doing the initial backup:
