Hello,
how does Veeam Backup for M365 handle objects in M365, that have been classified and encrypted or restricted access?
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/micro ... -worldwide
Can VBM backup these objects normally? Additionally, does Veeam know about encryption of these objects? If yes, are there any plans to make these settings editable inside Veeam?
We have the requirement, that some objects that were encrypted, have to be decrypted, but the user may already has left the company, so we try to find out some ways how to deal with it.
Thanks
Oliver

Hi Oliver
VB365 can protect encrypted objects. But you won't see the content in VB365 because the items are stored in their encrypted form.
Best,
Fabian

Could you maybe elaborate which capabilities your company is looking to use? On the provided link I see a lot of them. Can VBM backup these objects normally?

Re: Microsoft Purview Information Protection
Decryption is not possible, because VB365 doesn't have access to encryption keys in the cloud. We back up and restore such items as is.
Thanks!
Thanks!
